What Are the Main Ingredients of Bath Soap?

Bath soap is typically made up of moisturizers and cleansing agents that work together to soften skin and clean it. Depending on the brand, there can be more cleansing agents than moisturizers or vice versa. Checking the individual labels can let you know what detergent additives are included in that particular soap.

Sodium Laureth Sulfate

Sodium laureth sulfate is a cleanser with high-foaming properties that make it useful for those with hard water. It adds softness to the skin and has been deemed safe to add to products by the Cosmetic Ingredient Review expert panel, reports Cosmetics Info.org. It can also function as a surfactant, which creates a smooth surface for the product to glide over. This surfactant action makes it a better cleanser because it enables the soap to have continuous coverage.

Sodium Palmitate

Sodium palmitate is both a cleanser and an emulsifier, according to the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep database of cosmetic ingredients. Emulsifiers make oil and liquid ingredients blend well together. Alabu online states that sodium palmitate is the salt of palmitic acid and creates a lather and cleanses well, but it could also dry out your skin.

Sodium Lauroyl Isethionate

Sodium lauroyl isethionate works as a cleansing agent, an emulsifier and a wetting agent. It could be a drying ingredient. It is made through the sulfation of lauryl alcohol with a neutralization of sodium carbonate, and, while a good cleanser and degreaser, it may prove irritating to some sensitive skins.

Sodium Olivate

Sodium olivate is the salt of olive oil fatty acid, a natural product. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has deemed it safe for use as an indirect food additive. Since it is a botanically derived cleanser, it is mild and safe for use, according to Cosmetics Info.

Sodium Cocoate

Sodium cocoate is a soap detergent cleansing agent that is used in many shampoos and bar soaps. While it makes for a good lather and cleans well, it can also be a skin irritant and drying to some who have sensitive skin.

Veggies Work Better Than Drugs for Kidneys

Say you're told you have kidney disease. Knowing these vital organs remove waste and toxins from your system, stimulate the production of red blood cells and regulate your blood pressure, you know you need to do something fast.
It's very likely that one of the first things your doctor will do is put you on a regimen of medications.
But a new, five-year study just emerged revealing that one of the best things you can do for your kidneys is to eat three or four servings of vegetables and fruits daily. Not only can they help you regain your health but also may help save you money on medical costs, including medication.
In fact, eating healthy fruits and vegetables could help cut your drug costs by as much as 50 percent.

Eating the Right Foods Improves Your Kidney Function

You might be wondering how that works. According to the study at the University of Texas, it starts with a shift in nutrition.
Certain foods help you manage your blood pressure better than others and, at the same time, improve several other aspects of your health, potentially initiating healthier readings in things like systolic blood pressure.
The five-year study showed that a positive change in diet lowered the systolic blood pressure of subjects with kidney disease better than those who opted for medication.
U.S. News reported that the study tracked a small number of participants with kidney concerns so researchers could compare standard medical treatment outcomes with nutritional intervention.
The goal of the scientists was to determine who did better — the people in the drug group or those in the food group. The two gauges were not only which did better at naturally decreasing blood pressure but also whether or not using food to do it could make any difference in costs.
You already know the outcome. Healthy food prevailed, hands down. Study participants showed improvement the first year, and drug costs lowered every year thereafter, saving an average total of $153,000 for the veggie group over the span of the five-year study.
Dr. Nimrit Goraya, study author and program director for nephrology at Baylor Scott & White Healthcare in Temple, Texas, said that for people with kidney disease — or those wanting to prevent it — the importance of eating the right foods rather than settling for medications was "huge." Other studies show that taking blood pressure drugs may increase your risk of death.

Vegetables and Exercise — Stunning Findings for Blood Pressure

A 28-study review at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, involving more than 1,000 patients on kidney dialysis, resulted in more very promising statistics. Scientists found that those who regularly employed both aerobic and resistance (strength) training exercises lowered their blood pressure readings significantly.
Lona Sandon, clinical nutrition program director at the School of Health Professions at UT Southwestern in Dallas, noted that three or four servings of veggies and fruits, depending on the type, make all the difference:
"It is remarkable what fruits and vegetables can do, along with a little exercise. Blood pressure meds come with many side effects that may leave people feeling sluggish, or other problems.
The side effects of fruits and vegetables and exercise is better health. When people have access to healthy foods, they can change their health. And especially when they eat the recommended amounts that were provided to them in the study."

High Blood Pressure: the Second-Highest Cause of Kidney Failure

A few years ago, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that high blood pressure fatalities were on the rise.
Many people don't realize that the kidneys and circulatory systems work together to prevent high blood pressure (HBP), aka hypertension. As the American Heart Association reveals, kidney damage from high blood pressure occurs three ways:
  • First, HBP causes artery damage. The dense blood vessels and arteries in kidneys mean that high amounts of blood flow through them, but because this disease weakens them, adequate blood can't be delivered to kidney tissue.
  • Blood doesn't filter properly through damaged kidneys. Miniscule, finger-like nephrons filtering your blood get their supply through even smaller, hair-like capillaries, but with kidney damage, they don't get the oxygen or nutrients they require. Hormones, acids, salts and other fluids in your body are left unregulated.
  • Blood pressure is also unregulated and doesn't produce an important hormone for it to self-regulate, beginning a downward spiral. More arteries become blocked and stop functioning, causing kidney failure.
This all sounds pretty grim, but the important thing to remember is that this usually happens gradually over several years — and it can be prevented.
In the U.S. every third person aged 65 and older has chronic kidney disease, or CKD. Most don't progress toward advanced stages because they succumb to end-stage renal disease first, even if they have stage 4 CKD, a 2014 study in the journal Clinical Practice reveals.
An Italian study found that consuming just 7 grams a day of protein led to a reduction in kidney failure. Perhaps more importantly, an argument was made that a low-protein diet is far preferable to one containing excessive protein. That said, you may need to restrict your protein intake.
About one-half gram of protein per pound of lean body mass is all you need. Fructose should only be eaten in small amounts — about 25 grams or 6 teaspoons — per day (in spite of the fact that the American Kidney Fund allows for as much as 40 to 50 grams). DaVita, a kidney education website, notes:
"Researchers are discovering more and more links between chronic diseases inflammation and "super foods" that may prevent or protect against undesirable fatty acid oxidation, a condition that occurs when the oxygen in your body reacts with fats in your blood and your cells.
Oxidation is a normal process for energy production and many chemical reactions in the body, but excessive oxidation of fats and cholesterol creates molecules known as free radicals that can damage your proteins, cell membranes and genes."7
Besides kidney disease, some of the diseases studies have associated with free radical damage include cancer, Alzheimer's disease, heart disease and other recurring and degenerative conditions. But foods containing antioxidants can help neutralize and protect your body from free radical damage.
Foods containing phosphorous tend to promote kidney stone formation. Foods with high amounts of potassium, such as vegetables and seeds, are good choices, in moderation. Unfortunately, only 2 percent of people in the U.S. get adequate amounts of potassium, often because the others eat too many processed foods.
The top 15 fruits, veggies and other foods containing potent antioxidants for a healthy balance between sodium, potassium and phosphorus include:
Red bell peppers
Cabbage, cauliflower and kale
Asparagus, string beans and celery
Garlic and onions
Apples, pears peaches and cherries
Watermelon
Sweet potatoes
Red and purple grapes
Eggs
Wild-caught Alaskan sockeye salmon
Olive and coconut oils

Be cautious about consuming the fruits on this list, as they can easily push you over the recommended amount of daily fructose. With the clean, healthy foods that help your body maintain and heal itself are foods that you should avoid, especially if you have kidney issues.
If you drink soda or any beverage containing high fructose corn syrup or aspartame, stop! Those are chemically-contrived substances that can wreck even the best health.
Pure water is the best beverage to put into your body, and if you haven't made this change already, you'll be surprised how much healthier you look and feel. Daily Superfood Love says:
"Following a healthy lifestyle and eating the right foods for kidney health will keep your kidneys in shape for decades. Food has been proven repeatedly to turn the tide in many health scenarios – slowing and even stopping further damage to vital organs.
A diet filled with powerful superfoods mop up free radicals caused by oxidation and lower inflammation. Study after study for every major disease shows that what you eat matters to how you look, how you feel, and how healthy you are on the inside."
One way to monitor how you're doing is to check the color of your urine, which should be pale yellow. If it's darker than that, increase your water intake.

What Causes Kidney Malfunction?

More than 26 million people in the U.S. have chronic kidney disease. According to One Green Planet, kidney disease contributes to other diseases and health concerns:
"Kidney disease is strongly linked to other major health issues such as diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure) and heart disease. Many people who suffer obesity, autoimmune disease or urinary tract infections (UTI's) may also develop kidney disease within their lifetime.
Anytime an overall strain is put on the body, the kidneys also take a major hit. Common signs of kidney problems include frequent urination, problems urinating, pain, burning, or constant thirst."
There are two types of renal malfunction: one is acute kidney injury; the other is chronic kidney disease.
Acute kidney injury (AKI) occurs when there's a sudden reduction in blood flow, resulting in renal failure. In fact, the two terms are synonymous. Severe dehydration, an accident, surgery and even cumulative overdose (or purposeful) of such drugs as acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or naproxen could bring it on.
Chronic inflammation, such as what takes place with diabetics or heart disease patients, infections (such as sepsis), blockages or allergic reactions could also cause renal failure. About half of AKI sufferers can be treated without permanent damage; the rest will likely require either a kidney transplant or dialysis, meaning that a machine filters your blood.
Symptoms might include pain, weakness, lightheadedness, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, extreme thirst, and decreased urination. Interestingly, most acute kidney failure cases occur when people who are already being hospitalized for something else.
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) occurs over time, usually exacerbated by high blood pressure and diabetes. People who have been on lots of medications for an extended period of time are likely candidates, as are those abusing drugs or alcohol. A blocked renal artery may also irreparably damage your kidneys.
Age, genetic abnormalities and illnesses such as cancer may influence this condition. Chronic cases may involve the symptoms for AKI to the point of nonfunction. High levels of phosphates in the blood and low levels of iron may occur at this stage. Most health practitioners advise that you eat plenty of vegetables, avoid sugar, drink adequate amounts of water and get crucial, regular exercise, which will not only be good for your kidneys, but may make a profound improvement in your health overall.

Alarming: Illegal Cancer-Causing Chemicals Found in Nearly 100 Shampoo Brands

Most of us are not aware that the shampoo we are using contain harsh chemicals and may cancer. Study finds that cancer causing chemicals are found in 100 shampoos.

The Center for Environmental Health (CEH) revealed independent testing finding a cancer-causing chemical in 98 shampoos, soaps and other personal care products sold by major national retailers. The chemical, cocamide diethanolamine (cocamide DEA), a chemically-modified form of coconut oil used as a thickener or foaming agent in many products, was listed by California as a known carcinogen last year.

Products tested with high levels of cocamide DEA include shampoos made by Colgate Palmolive, Colomer, Paul Mitchell and many others. In addition, products marketed for children and a product falsely labeled as organic were found with the chemical, in violation of California law.

CEH filed a California lawsuit Tuesday against four companies that sell products containing cocamide DEA, and the nonprofit has sent legal notices to more than 100 other companies that produce and/or sell cocamide DEA-tainted products that their products violate state law.

“Most people believe that products sold in major stores are tested for safety, but consumers need to know that they could be doused with a cancer-causing chemical every time they shower or shampoo,” said Michael Green, executive director of CEH. “We expect companies to take swift action to end this unnecessary risk to our children’s and families’ health.”

In addition to many brand name shampoos and personal care products (see the full list, below), the CEH testing found cocamide DEA in store-brand products purchased at Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Pharmaca and Kohl’s. A store brand children’s bubble bath from Kmart and a children’s shampoo/conditioner from Babies R Us were also found with cocamide DEA. Falsely labeled organic products from Organic by Africa’s Best also tested for high levels of the cancer-causing chemical (CEH previously won a legal settlement with this company requiring it to end its use of phony organic labels).
CEH has purchased the shampoos and other products containing cocamide DEA at Bay Area, CA, locations of major retailers and from online retailers since June, and commissioned an independent lab to determine the total content of the chemical in the products. In many cases, products contain more than 10,000 ppm cocamide DEA, and one shampoo tested at more than 200,000 ppm (20 percent) cocamide DEA. California listed cocamide DEA in June 2012 as a chemical known to cause cancer based on the assessment by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, which evaluated skin exposure tests on animals.

How to make Homemade Shampoo

  • 1 Tbsp baking soda – We buy baking soda in bulk because we use a ton and it saves even more money. (Baking soda is also referred to as sodium bicarbonate or sodium hydrogen carbonate.)
  • 1 cup water – Like I said, one of the ingredients is free. Use whatever kind of water you wish – we use tap which is English for “out of the sink.”
We mix ours in double batches into a clean, repurposed shampoo bottle. Feel free to use whatever container you like, doubling up on ingredients until it’s full.

How to use

Simply shake the bottle before each use and squirt directly onto scalp and hair. Gently massage into the scalp hair for a minute or two and rinse well.
For best results, follow with homemade conditioning rinse. The homemade conditioning rinse is imperative for restoring the pH of your hair and smoothing the hair cuticle. It will also keep your hair from feeling greasy/sticky after using homemade shampoos.

Important Notes

UPDATE: This shampoo is not intended for daily use, as the baking soda can potentially be drying to hair and scalp. We recommend using it as a clarifying shampoo. It’s perfect for those times when you got a little carried away with hair products and need to remove some buildup, or when you’re first switching over to homemade shampoos and need to remove some of the buildup commercial shampoos can leave behind.

Cancer – Why Some Get It and Some Don’t

Human cells are produced, mature, and then die.  Under normal circumstances, this process repeats itself every second of your lifetime.  If the body’s cells do not die naturally when they are damaged or mutated, unnecessary clusters of old and new cells build up and tumors develop.

Scientists continue to try to understand exactly what causes cancer but the truth is that there are so many variables that they primarily focus on “triggers” known to lead to cancer.  Here are some critical areas that are proven to increase your cancer risk.  Age, gender, and family history are impossible to control but lifestyle choices such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and weight are controllable and reduce your overall lifetime risk.

Question:
Let me ask you this question: why don’t we have a forest fire each time that someone throws a burning cigarette out a car window? There are many reasons why a burning cigarette may not start a forest fire.
  1. Perhaps the cigarette falls on the pavement rather than the grass.
  2. Perhaps there was a recent rain and the grass is wet and won’t ignite.
  3. Perhaps the grass is dry, but the cigarette is snuffed before it can start a fire.
  4. Perhaps it starts a fire but the grass is surrounded by water and cannot spread into the forest.
  5. Or perhaps a fire begins, but then the wind blows so hard that it blows the fire out.
Cancer Why Some Get It and Some Don’tIn the burning cigarette example above , the cigarette represents one of the many potential causes of cancer, like toxins, while the forest fire represents cancer.  The pavement and the wet grass and the wind all represent the internal control mechanisms that prevent cancer, such as a healthy immune system, a balanced pH, and oxygenated cells.

Given the same exposure to the same toxins over the same period of time, someone with a healthy immune system may have no adverse effects while someone with a compromised immune system may develop hypoxia (lack of oxygen at the cellular level) and eventually cancer.

The Immune System

Your immune system is your first line of defense against everything that could harm your body.  When it is compromised due to illness, lifestyle choices, or medications, it cannot protect you from the initial stages of cancer development.
You are effectively left defenseless.  Transplanted organs (and the immune suppressant drugs prescribed) and chronic infections can also damage the immune system and lead to damaged cells, uncontrolled cell production, and cancer masses.
Keeping your immune system in fighting condition is critical to prevention of diseases such as cancer, slowing down the effects of aging, and keeping you strong and healthy every day of your life.

Your Age

Cancer can happen to any person, of any age, both genders, and every race.  Some cancers strike specific demographics but more than 75% of cancer diagnosis occurs in persons over the age of 55.  That means that your risk increases as you get older.
Lifetime risk (the chance that you will get cancer in your life) of cancer for men is almost 50% and for women is more than 35%.  It is crucial to strengthen your body and acquire good lifestyle habits as early as possible to minimize your individual risk.

Lifestyle Choices

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is not easy for many.  Cutting out tobacco use (due to the carcinogenic chemicals), limiting alcohol, controlling body weight, and altering eating habits to remove over-processed, GMO, and chemical-laden foods are essential steps to prevent and even treat cancer.
No matter how much smoking, drinking, and junk food may seem “enjoyable” – they will shorten your lifespan over time.  They weaken your immune system, cause body-wide inflammation, and leave you susceptible to disease.

Genetics and Family History

If one of your family members has been diagnosed with cancer, there is a risk that you may also develop cancer.  Know your family medical history and avoid behaviors that lead to illness and disease.
However, genetics is not the cause for the majority of cancer cases.  Experts estimate that it represents only about 5% of annual cancer diagnoses.

The Bottom Line…

Cancer is most commonly diagnosed in people who do not take care of their body.  Scientists and experts around the world agree that more than half of all cancers are preventable.
So, no matter what your genetic predisposition, there are a multitude of steps you can take to minimize your cancer risk if you don’t have cancer, and there are scores of successful treatment protocols you can use if you do have cancer.
As with every disease that is considered a worldwide epidemic, prevention is possible and the most consistent method of saving lives.  By taking control of your diet and lifestyle, you can improve your chances of being a person who never gets cancer.
So What is the Solution?
The solution is Antioxidants!
Antioxidants have an extra electron that they can give to free radicals which eliminates their harmful effects. Antioxidants are your body’ defense against destructive free radicals. Therefore they are your defense against aging, sickness and disease.
Where do Antioxidants come from?
Antioxidants are found in fruits and vegetables. They are also found in other types of foods such as nuts, oils, beans, etc. Research studies suggest that organic foods have higher concentrations of antioxidants than processed foods grown with pesticides.
Supplement Warning!
unabsorbed
Not all supplements are beneficial. They must be absorbed by your body. As you can see from the x-ray, these supplements which are from a “name Brand” company, would do you no good. They are still undissolved in the colon, and the results are more hazardous than you may think!

Supplements should be monitored regularly to be sure you are absorbing them, if not, then you are wasting money on your supplements. This is why we need to have a clean colon system.
What’s more important than your Health?
Absolutely Nothing.
Not your Job, not your Business, Not your Children.
When you lose your Health…

EVERYONE SUFFERS!

Does man need to clean/groom their private part?

I think not only women should clean their private parts but as well men. According to Health, Men spend hours obsessing about grooming the hair on their head but tend to ignore their pubic hair. It is only when they are going to have sex, that they begin to groom their privates. The fact remains that ungroomed privates are not only a complete turn off, but are also unhygienic. Here are five reasons why men should groom their privates.

Cleanliness
Heat, sweat and bacteria form around the crotch and remain there for a long time if it gets entangled in the pubic hair. Trimming or shaving it off will help keep that area clean and free from any unwanted infections.

Makes the erection look bigger
Ungroomed pubic hair tends to hide your penis, which makes it appear smaller. Shaving away all the extra hair will make it appear at least an inch longer.

Looks healthier
A well groomed crotch looks healthy and clean. The cleanliness will ensure that you don’t have any infections or outbreaks and it will also keep your penis healthy. Besides, it will enable you to keep an eye on unwanted warts or rash.

Appears more inviting
A clean well groomed penis appears more inviting to your partner. Pubic hair can be a complete turn off for most women while performing oral sex. If you want her to go down on you, you need to groom your privates.

Can increase sensitivity during sex
The skin around the crotch is sensitive to touch. Shabby ungroomed pubic hair restricts direct contact to this sensitive skin.  Shaving or waxing it off, will give your partner better access to this area, thereby making it a much more intense experience.

For men out there who is looking for a masculine wash that has natural components, I recommend Natura-centials masculine wash.

How to remove the underarm hair naturally?

Underarm hair will be probably a reason for shame to many individuals especially ladies. During summer season, it becomes really hard to wear tops, blouses and dresses with quarter sleeves or normal sleeves. It is important to stay free from heat and discomfort during summer. Thus, most of the ladies prefer wearing dresses without sleeves. But, it would look odd when you are wearing sleeveless with the visibility of under arm hair. Removal of underarm hair will be an important issue as this will not only make you stay clean in front of people, rather you will also be clean to yourself. There are some very effective and easy home remedies through which you can remove your under arm hair naturally without any problem.

Tips to remove underarm hair naturally

Step 1
Take exactly 2 cups of sugar, ¼ cup of water, ¼ cup of honey, ¼ cup of fresh lemon juice in a separator.
Step 2
Now bring that separator or the saucepan to boil. The ingredients should be put to boil under the slow flame. You must cook this to around half an hour time.  They you will see that the mixture becomes deep brown in color. In the candy thermometer it will reach 246 degrees.  Now remove the separator from the flame and keep it under the room temperature to cool.
Step 3
Now you must wash your underarms and clean them so that no sweat appears. After washing your underarms with water, allow it to pat dry. Now dust the under arms with the baby powder. People should use baby powder as it removes extra oil from the body.

Step 4
Now spread the naturally obtained wax syrup with the spoon or your hand over the portion of your under arm where you wish to remove the unwanted hair. If you are doing this for the first time, you must apply it in the small area at first. You must also check whether this wax produces allergic reaction on your skin. You can try this in the small area of your hand where hairs are available. Once you are sure that, it does not have any allergic reaction once it touches your skin, you can confidently apply this on your under arms.
Step 5
Allow the mixture to harden fir some time and then use the other hand to pick up the sugary wax from your under arms. You must pull your under arm skin really tight so that it does not form wrinkle. You have to be in a quick motion to pull off the wax.
Step 6
Now, if there is some left over residue of the wax after pulling out all unwanted hair, it is important to clean the residue with Luke warm water and soap. It is important to use a light moisturizer over the under arms after removing the wax from that place. This will keep your skin soft and smooth.
The wax that you have made with the natural ingredients must be stored in a cool place so that you can use it whenever you see hairs on your hands, legs and even you’re under arms. It will remain in a good condition once stored in refrigerator.
